With all of the hype around ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story‘ which is out this week, one can’t forget to also look towards the future and one film in the ‘Star Wars’ cinematic universe which might see the light of day is a young Luke Skywalker movie. Not only that but to tie directly into this week’s release it sounds like Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso might even make a cameo.
This is a fully unconfirmed rumor and one that I hope doesn’t see the light of day as we all remember how fun watching a young Anakin Skywalker was actually a major factor in ruining ‘Star Wars: A Phantom Menace’ for many of us. With no plans of a sequel to ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,’ this rumor was birthed from the fact that Jones has it in her contract with Disney to be available for another film.
That does beg the question of how this would play out. Skywalker was 19 when ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’ was released and has clearly been quite bored on his homeworld to that point. If he did have an adventure that was worthy enough for Erso to show up, it would have to take place prior to her joining the rebellion and be interesting enough to watch but boring enough that he’s still going stir crazy.
Honestly, I’m not willing to commit to this rumor being a realistic situation. The only way a younger Luke meeting Erso would fit is if she somehow survives the film and they meet during a mission that takes place after ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’. I wouldn’t put my money on it happening.
Do you think we’ll somehow see Felicity Jones show up in another ‘Star Wars’ film which takes place prior or after the release of ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ or was this put in place just in case they originally were planning a sequel to the film? Share your thoughts below!
