Tis the season for holiday programming. Whether it involves Charlie Brown, The Muppets, Buddy the Elf, The Doctor, or a Red Ryder carbine action two-hundred shot range model air rifle, you probably have that one movie or TV show that you can’t wait to watch this year to truly get you in the Christmas spirit. But if you’re a fan of ‘Sense8,’ then Netflix has something new to add to your seasonal line-up. And no, it’s not a new Yule Log video.
Ahead of the second season’s 2017 premiere, Lana Wachowski, Lilly Wachowski, and J. Michael Straczynski (along with Grant Hill, who is replacing Lilly as EP) are presenting a very special two-hour Christmas episode of their acclaimed sci-fi drama. And to promote the inter-season interlude set to drop on December 23rd, the popular streaming service has debuted a brand new trailer for the ‘Sense8 Christmas Special’. The journey continues as these eight singular hearts and minds weave in and out of each other’s lives finding deeper connections, learning darker, more desperate secrets about one another and struggling to identify with more than just oneself.
In addition to this sneak peek underneath the digitally streaming Christmas tree, Netflix has also shared a special message from Lana Wachowski that discusses why Christmas episodes mean so much to her. You can see that here, along with the synopsis for Season Two:
Picking up where season one left off, Capheus, Kala, Lito, Nomi, Riley, Sun, Will, and Wolfgang come together both physically and mentally, plunged into the middle of each other’s tragedies and triumphs. On the run from Whispers (Terrence Mann), and forced to question their very identity, it’s a matter of survival as the Sensates must find a way to live with, understand and protect one another against all odds.
