We’ve been slowly getting details on Ridley Scott‘s ‘Alien: Covenant‘ though one of the more interesting aspects is the news that Michael Fassbender (‘X-Men: Apocalypse’,’Inglourious Basterds’) is playing a new android named Walter. We all remember how well Fassbender worked as David in ‘Prometheus’ and while he’s back to play the role of another android, we’ll be seeing the character be vastly different from the original iteration.

The character came up when he was being interviewed for ‘Assassin’s Creed’ and when talking about what we can expect, Fassbender stated:

“I think Walter’s a real different kettle of fish. David was definitely a work-in-progress, somewhat of a prototype I suppose. The elements of him that were the human elements I think people found a little disturbing, so Walter’s more of a straightforward robot. Pretty logical, much more of a servant without the ego.”

One almost has to suspect that maybe the version of AI that David was on didn’t really have great results across the board if they decided to change him. Though with how much of a variation we’ve seen in both Bishop and Ash from the first two films it wouldn’t surprise me if each Android had a unique AI.

Rumor has Noomi Rapace reprising her role as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw which makes you wonder if she’ll be showing up for the portion of the film where Fassbender will be returning as David. Perhaps the headless android will even find a way to take over Walter’ body before the film comes to a close.

Are you looking forward to checking out ‘Alien: Covenant’ when it is released? Do you think Fassbender playing 2 androids quite differently will be fun to play out on screen? Share your thoughts below!
