alien:covenant posterIf you were unhappy that you had to wait until August 4th, 2017 to check out ‘Alien: Covenant‘ then you’ll be happy to hear that the film has been pushed up for a May 19th, 2017 release! That’s right ladies and gentlemen, Ridley Scott‘s ‘Prometheus’ sequel which is to delve firmly black into the realm of Xenomorph aliens is going to be out a few months earlier and that is not the best treat which could be given to fans this holiday season. A new poster was also released which you see here is clearly showing off an iconic H.R. Giger designed Alien which is also hinting to be front and center in the film.

It is unusual for a potential to get pushed up on the release schedule these days as they tend to have more work needed in post production and if anything is pushed back. However, if anyone would be able to get that done it is a seasoned professional such as Ridley Scott.

In theaters, this will put the film up against ‘Annabelle 2’, ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul’, ‘The Nut Job 2’, and ‘Baywatch’. Honestly, aside from ‘Annabelle 2’ or parents taking their kids to a movie this doesn’t feel like there is any strong competition for the film for people who are going to want to check it out. The only downside is ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ opening the week after with ‘Wonder Woman’ in another week which will give this some stiff competition for having extended box office sales.

The film is only set to follow Michael Fassbender from ‘Prometheus’ on this new alien filled adventure though Noomi Rapace is rumored to return for a minor role as well.

Are you looking forward to ‘Alien: Covenant’? Are you happy to hear that the focus will be back on Xenomorphs or wish that the Engineers were once more central to the film? Share your thoughts below!
