We’ve known that Richard E. Grant (‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’,’Jekyll & Hyde’) had a part in ‘Logan‘ since April only it wasn’t until today that we’ve learned exactly who he’ll be playing in the film. While we knew he would have a mad scientist type of a role, it made sense that he could end up as Dr. Zander Rice – especially with IMDB having him listed as such. While confirmation had never popped up, Jackman has revealed a new image that not only shows Grant in character but has tagged it that he will indeed be portraying Rice.

For those unfamiliar with Dr. Zander Rice, he’s from the Weapon X program and has long had issues with Wolverine. In the comics, his father Dale Rice was killed by Wolverine who was trying to escape the Weapon X facility and had a briefcase of information on the program. As ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ not only showed Logan going on a rampage and killing quite a few scientists and guards as well as the Essex Corp having a briefcase in the post-credit scene from the film it is likely that this will all be tied into the cinematic universe as well.
Of course, we’ve heard mixed responses as to if Mr. Sinister would actually have any part in the upcoming film but that doesn’t mean they couldn’t at the very least tie-in Zander’s father being killed by everyone’s favorite Canadian mutant.
Are you looking forward to seeing Rice work out his anger against Logan in the movie? Do you think this will follow the comics or just be a casual use of the same name? Share your thoughts below!
‘Logan’ is directed by James Mangold and stars Jackman, plus Patrick Stewart, Boyd Holbrook, Elise Neal, Stephen Merchant, Elizabeth Rodriguez, and Richard E. Grant. It opens on March 3, 2017.
