While Ridley Scott‘s 2012 ‘Prometheus’ wasn’t well received outside of artistically, everyone has been pretty excited for ‘Alien: Covenant‘ and the latest image from the film shows that we still will be giving it high artistic praise as well. To celebrate Scott’s 79th birthday, the official Alien franchise Twitter account has shared a new shot of Scott on an Engineer ship from ‘Alien: Covenant’!
This isn’t the first behind-the-scenes image that we’ve been able to check out for the film but it is one of the few which have confirmed that the Engineers, or at least one of their ships, will be returning in the film. Since David and Elizabeth Shaw were on their way to the Engineer’s home planet at the end of ‘Prometheus,’ it shouldn’t be too surprising that one of their ships would end up being involved.
You can check out the shot below:
There is a small chance that it is actually from ‘Prometheus’ but from the hashtag of ‘#AlienCovenant’ being included, it sure seems like it is from the upcoming film! There is no word as to if this installment into the franchise will show us how the ship crashed on LV-426 and kicked off the original ‘Alien’ film quite yet though it wouldn’t be too surprising if we get a hint of it here.
Do you think this shot means that there will be a more Engineer specific plot going on or will the ship just be used in helping describe how we got from the ‘Prometheus’ theme back to the ‘Alien’ creatures that everyone had really wanted to see in the first place? Share your thoughts below!
‘Alien: Covenant’ will be bursting onto the big screen on May 19th, 2017!
