I’m a little bummed right now as the release date of Stephen King’s ‘The Dark Tower‘ was just pushed back from February 17th, 2017 to a summer release on July 28th, 2017. In taking over a decade to be written and spanning a multitude of King’s works, this is his epic journey that still hasn’t come to an end and the films have had a long and rocky start to make it to the big screen as is so this delay is a little disheartening. Though, with the film having been shot and it actually getting a better release date this will give us a bit of extra time with post-production to polish it up that much more and possibly reach a much wider release. Post-production editing is the reason given for the delays as well and I’m happy to see that the studio allowed for a delay in what could be a massive trilogy of films, a spinoff series, new book and possibly even more!
Giving this the attention to detail that it deserves is clearly the right choice even if it means we have to wait a few months longer. .
The film itself will follow Idris Elba as Roland Deschain who is attempting to stop Matthew McConaughey as The Man in Black for the atrocities that he committed to Roland’s world. It also stars Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers who in the novels ends up being extremely important to the main story arc. However, we already know that this will actually be not a retelling of the novels but something else entirely though to explain that would be a massive spoiler to those who have been avoiding news on the film.
Are you glad to hear that they are willing to add time to do ‘The Dark Tower’ justice or does this delay have you worried over the quality of the film? Share your thoughts below!
‘The Dark Tower’ will open its doors on July 28, 2017.
