With ‘Dredd 3D’ about to open in US theaters in a little over 2 weeks (and this Friday for those lucky enough to live in the UK), Lionsgate has released another clip from the anticipated film reboot.
The clip shows Judge Dredd, who has been assigned to evaluate eager new recruit Judge Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), getting to know a little about his new partner. As they enter Peach Trees to respond to a call, Judge Anderson explains why she joined the Justice Department and how she thinks she can make a difference in the world. Coming from someone who looks as great as Thirlby, it wouldn’t have been a surprise had she also commented that she also wanted “world peace” in the process (a la ‘Miss Congeniality’). The hopefulness of the young and naïve recruit doesn’t get by the jaded Dredd as he sarcastically finds her untainted enthusiasm “admirable.”
So far the trailers, clips, and featurettes of ‘Dredd 3D’ point to this remake as faring far better than the ‘Total Recall’ reboot – even better than the Sylvester Stallone original. The true test will arrive in the next couple weeks.
