doctor-strange-and-christine-palmer

Rosario Dawson plays Claire Temple in the Netflix Marvel shows, a character from the ‘Luke Cage’ comic books.  Temple is a doctor but there was talk that she would be used as a live action version of Night Nurse, a moniker shared by three other characters in the comics, Linda Carter, Georgia Jenkins and Christine Palmer.  In the comics, Linda Carter is the “main” Night Nurse and became something of a superhero and a romantic interest for Doctor Strange.  ‘Daredevil’ showrunner Steven DeKnight had previously expressed that he had wanted Dawson’s Claire Temple to assume the identity of Night Nurse, but that Marvel said no because they planned to use the Night Nurse identity in one of its movies.

‘Doctor Strange’ won’t be the one, apparently.

Rachel McAdams is playing a version of Christine Palmer, but don’t expect her to use the name Night Nurse.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige stated “I will say that that story line does not play into the movie.  It’s just as much fun for us as it is for the fans to speculate about that.”

McAdams, only demurred “Mum’s the word.”

Well for one thing, they have already established that McAdam’s Christine Palmer is a doctor, not a nurse.

Also, to be honest, ‘Night Nurse’ is a fairly obscure concept.  There are probably hundreds of characters more worthy of the live action treatment either in a movie or on TV.  But hell, Rocket Raccoon got a whole movie and basically stole the show.

But at any rate, you can listen to McAdams as well as co-stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton and Mads Mikkelsen discussing their roles in ‘Doctor Strange’.  Don’t expect many juicy details, as these movies are always shrouded in mystery.

But check it out below:

Are you disappointed that Christine Palmer will not become Night Nurse?  Or (seriously) does it even matter?
