‘The Strangers’ showed us that director Bryan Bertino knows how to deliver a solid horror flick and this trailer for ‘The Monster’ makes me suspect that he is getting even better at his craft. Created as a DirecTV original, it stars Zoe Kazan, Ella Ballentine, and Scott Speedman in a creature feature that classic horror fans will surely love. A broken down car leaving two people stranded in the woods is not a new concept but done in modern times in a style that just looks outstanding should breathe some new life as we see a lizard-like monster hunting down a mother and daughter.

This seriously looks like a pretty amazing piece of work and I’m excited to see this one in November when it is available on other networks.

What are your thoughts on ‘The Monster’? Is DirecTV giving us a fun new creature feature that will keep you up at night or has the monster in the woods genre of horror been done to death for you? Share your thoughts below!

Synopsis:

Acclaimed horror filmmaker Bryan Bertino (The Strangers) directs this suspenseful and scary new film, in which a divorced mother (Zoe Kazan) and her headstrong daughter must make an emergency late night road trip to see the girl’s father. As they drive through deserted country roads on a stormy night, they suddenly have a startling collision that leaves them shaken but not seriously hurt. Their car, however, is dead, and as they try in vain to get help, they come to realize they are not alone on these desolate backroads – a terrifying evil is lurking in the surrounding woods, intent on never letting them leave…

A chilling and tension-filled experience, The Monster pits two ferociously strong women against one of the scariest and most shocking monsters you’ll ever see. It will be a battle no one will forget.

‘The Monster’ is available now on DirecTV and will have a VOD and theatrical run on November 11th, 2016.
