It’s been 3 years since the first ‘Percy Jackson’ film was in theaters and fans of the book series won’t have to wait much longer until the sequel, ‘Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters’ will be in theaters.  A new trailer for the film has been released and like most sequels, this film is bigger and more spectacular than the first one.

The franchise is based on the 5 book series by Rick Riordan that brings a new twist to the classic Greek and Roman myths that is so widely known. In this film, Percy and his crew must travel to the Sea of Monsters (otherwise known as the Bermuda Triangle to us mere mortals) to retrieve the Golden Fleece in order to stop an ancient evil from rising.

‘Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters’ sees the return of Logan Lerman as Percy and Alexandra Daddario and Brandon T. Jackson as his friends Anabeth Chase and Grover Underwood. The rest of the cast seem to be a who’s  who in the genre world with geek god Nathan Fillion playing the Greek god Hermes, Stanley Tucci (‘The Hunger Games’, ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’) as Dionysus, Anthony Head (‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’, ‘Merlin’) as Chiron and Jake Abel (‘The Host’, ‘I am Number Four’) as Luke Castellan among others. The screenplay was written by Marc Guggenheim, the same man who brought the CW show ‘Arrow’ to the small screen with Thor Freudenthal taking over directing duties.

The trailer is impressive enough showing off the CGI effects in full glory and it looks like it may be a nice little film to take the family.
