Fox has released a set of two new clips from the upcoming film ‘Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,’ each of which sheds new light on the world of the film.
Directed by Tim Burton, the film is an adaptation of the 2011 young adult novel of the same name by Ransom Riggs. The film follows Jake, as he discovers his own gifts and stumbles upon Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. The peculiar children – or “peculiars” – of the title are supernaturally gifted children. As he becomes embroiled in this world and the mysteries within it, Jake finds himself tasked with protecting the peculiars.
The first clip sees Miss Peregrine (played by Eva Green) elaborating on her abilities. She explains that while her most obvious power is the ability to transform into a bird, her “main skill,” as she puts it, is the ability to manipulate time. In effect, this allows her to maintain a sanctuary for peculiars by creating a time loop – a single day that she and the children can live over and over again in safety.
The second clip instead focuses on the film’s villain, Barron (played by Samuel L. Jackson). The scene shown here primarily showcases Jackson’s portrayal of the villain, which has a flamboyance reminiscent of his performance in ‘Kingsmen: The Secret Service’. It also alludes to Barron’s quest for immortality, which involves hunting down and killing peculiars.
