We’ve seen web games, book covers, and teasers for the new ‘Godzilla‘ film, but the look of the creature still hasn’t been 100% confirmed (let’s be honest, what we saw in the trailer was cool but it wasn’t a full shot of the King of the Kaiju).
However, at a recent toy convention this shot of a Godzilla toy just might be the icing on the cake in delivering to us what the Kaiju will look like. Sure it clearly says that “models are not final pending licence or approval”, but if they were basing it off of advanced notice on the look, I think we can safely we’ve officially seen what the King of the Monsters is going to be looking like! Check it out below:
It’s not quite the man in a rubber suit look, but thankfully it’s not the sorry excuse for Godzilla that popped up in the 1998 Roland Emmerich (‘Independence Day‘, ‘The Day After Tomorrow’) film.
With an amazing cast and outstanding look to everyone’s favorite giant monster, it’s fun to point out that we still really don’t have a clue on what the upcoming film is going to be about. Sure, the big fella is going to be doing some destruction on a massive scale, but what does that mean for the human side of things? Will there be any social commentary slipped in as the classic first film did? Only time will tell what we’re going to see on the big screen but the more promotional tidbits I see, the more excited I am for it!
What do you think? From all of the preview shots, is this the look you want to see for Godzilla when he once again invades the big screen later this year?
‘Godzilla’ lands in theaters on May 16, 2014 and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston.
