Supergirl

The CW is rolling out the red carpet for ‘Supergirl’ which is swooping over from its former home on CBS.  The show stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers, the cousin of Superman, who is struggling to make a name for herself in National City.

In Season One, Supergirl soared fighting crime and battling various villains, chief among them two Kryptonians who were intent on destroying earth, but she has yet to find that same empowerment as Kara Danvers. Now, in Season Two, Kara has left the safety of being Cat Grant’s assistant in order to figure out what she really wants to do, while as Supergirl she continues to work at the DEO., protecting the citizens of National City and searching for Jeremiah and Cadmus. Along the way, she will team up with Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) to battle new villains, as she strives to balance her personal life with her life as a superhero.

A new trailer has been released to tout the new episodes and judging by the quick-cut images, expect the returns of some Season One visitors including Red Tornado (Iddo Goldberg) and Live Wire (Britt Morgan), just to name two.  Also wait for Cat Grant’s (Calista Flockhart) scathing “insult” toward the end.

No sign of Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman in this clip, but his appearance is one of the most anticipated events of the upcoming season.  He will guest star in the first two episodes and return later in the season for at least one more appearance.

But to tide you over, here is a new shot of Hoechlin acting opposite Benoist:

"The Last Children of Krypton"

Also joining ‘Supergirl’ this year are Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor, Ian Gomez as journalist Snapper Carr, Floriana Lima as Science Police Captain Maggie Sawyer and Chris Wood as Mon-El, the mysterious inhabitant of the pod that Kara discovered last year.

The new season kicks off on Monday October 10th.
