We’re all wondering who will survive Negan’s friend Lucille when ‘The Walking Dead‘ returns this fall and Michael Cudlitz (‘Southland’,’The Negotiator’) who plays Abraham on the show might have just dropped a major spoiler for one of the characters. As always the phrasing is a bit vague and this could be just a rumor or misdirection but let’s take a look at what he has to say, shall we?
Oh, obviously for those who want to avoid any and all spoilers this is your chance to turn back!
So from a recent interview we Cudlitz making a reference to the upcoming season not with one of the characters who die, but one of those who lives.
Here is exactly what he had to say about his own Abraham when it came to his living after Denise died:
“Her death spurs on a whole bunch of other stuff, and then the audience knows that Abraham will continue for a while now. Now we get to see what a world with Negan and Abraham both in it will be like. That’s something we don’t see in the graphic novels. So a lot of cool stuff happens. For me, knowing that his potential death had come and gone, it was a moment to go, “Oh cool, they really aren’t going to stick with what the graphic novel does.” As a fan of both the novel and the show, it was cool.”
Sadly this could just be misdirection or the idea where a world with Abraham and Negan getting into a pissing contest right as they meet ends up with Negan introducing Abraham to Lucille. While they clearly were playing up Abraham into a death arc after he’s found a bit of redemption, I’m hoping they buck the trend and do keep him around for awhile.
What do you think about Cudlitz’s commentary on Abraham? Do you think we’ll have him around for the long haul or is he about to get close up and personal with Lucille when the show starts back up? Share your thoughts below!
