stranger things 3

Sad news from David Harbour to fans of Netflix’s smash hit ‘Stranger Things’ as it sounds like the third season won’t be released until 2019. While this isn’t official confirmation from the studio, Harbour recently was at the Variety Studio which was presented by Dubai Film Festival and Empire and was talking about the series. We’ve already heard from the crew previously that yearly jumps in the story were almost needed just from the actors aging so quickly but this is the first time we’ve heard that a delay in the next season could occur.

Again, it isn’t set in stone but according to Harbour:

“I mean, one of the things that’s annoying for fans is that it takes us a long time to do them. Like, you probably won’t get [Season 3] until sometime in 2019. But also part of the thing is, like any good thing, they need time. And those guys work so hard. I mean, they just sit in their apartment and write for 12, 14 hours a day.”

There is always the chance that this won’t be the case but if it is that just means Harbour will have plenty of time to work on ‘Hellboy’ while we impatiently see the kids get even older and possibly another year in their lives skipped before we get the next chapter in their story.

No word as of yet as to what we might expect but it is clear that the battle with the Upside Down is far from over with the final lingering shot of the Shadow Monster watching over our young heroes. Likely Kali will also return which would also hint at further tracking down Matthew Modine’s Dr. Martin Brenner or “Papa” who apparently survived the first season. However, it is unclear as to what knowledge he may have that will be needed past it just being another example of Kali needing to exact her revenge.
