This winter will give us the first stand-alone ‘Star Wars’ tale in ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story‘ and we have news on when the next trailer can be expected as well as 13 new images to share with you today! Since we didn’t get a new trailer during Star Wars Celebration 2016, we’ve learned that our next glimpse of the film will be on Thursday, August 11, 2016 during NBC’s coverage of the Olympic games! While at one point it would have been thought of as strange for genre films to launch trailers during any kind of a sports event, that trend has been changing with the rise in popularity of comic book and science fiction movies. Gareth Edwards has some high expectations to match but I do have to say that these new images are hinting that he’ll be able to do just that!
For now, let’s check out these new teaser promo shots! First up is a bit of a strange one as we see a Storm Trooper holding what looks to be a Storm Trooper toy?
Second, we have another shot of some more classic styled Storm Troopers, these guys are taking a nice leisurely walk through some water.
Third has Riz Ahmed in character looking quite serious. He’s possibly sad that he isn’t going to the beach in these pictures with the rest of the cast.
And more Storm Troopers in water, is this a new theme we don’t know about? Instead of a heist film are we actually getting an 80’s beach movie?
Finally, an action shot that looks like we’re not about to lay out in the sun! Of course, this could just be where he is realizing he is all alone against the Storm Trooper Volleyball Champions.
Someone is looking as if they are sneaking around an Imperial Base here… Or trying on a really strange diving suit.
Felicity Jones and Diego Luna’s characters look as if their mission is about to start up. Or is it that point in the movie where the nerdy guy gets the hot girl to join his Vollyball team to take down the Storm Trooper Champions?
Oh wait, we’re back to hanging out on the beach to catch some rays, everyone is doing it, including that Storm Trooper who is just chilling in the background.
Donnie Yen doesn’t look like he has much time for the relaxing that everyone else is doing. He has to train and get his spike down!
Another shot of Diego Luna again about to head into action. It looks like he has put together quite the Vollyball team to take on the reigning champs!
Some more of those Death Troopers from the first shot, It looks like they’ve lost their toy and mean business!
One more trooper taking care of business.
Finally, it all ends with a very serious look of contemplation.
What is he thinking? Clearly, he is wondering why he doesn’t get to play on the beach. More likely though it is if Edwards can capture the magic that ‘Star Wars’ is known for and hopes it will garner fan support, unlike the prequel trilogy.
