celebrity movie fights

I had the honor and distinction of attending a live Celebrity Movie Fight while attending SDCC 2016 this year, and let me tell you, seeing the Screen Junkies crew in person do their show was pretty amazing, especially when they were joined by the always phenomenal Kevin Smith. Clearly they are all passionate fans who truly care about the momentous decisions being made, and all of the fans in attendance were just as excited to get to the bottom of some of the most pressing questions in pop culture history. I will admit that I arrived a bit late for some of the early discussions, but I have posted all of the big debates and the video below the jump, along with how each of them turned out.

Highlights of the panel for me came during the Profanity argument, where the panelists deferred over and over again to Kevin Smith, as he is known as the man who writes the best dirty words. Also fun was the question about whether you would watch ‘Mall Rats’ or ‘Dogma’ if both were on cable, and Kevin Smith arguing for ‘Mall Rats’ solely because (as we later found out) he is making ‘Mall Rats’ the series, thus skewing his arguments. The final question was also great, as it was all about Chewie’s revenge story following ‘The Force Awakens,’ which somehow at some point got to a story where a shaved Chewie goes full ‘Breaking Bad’ while hunting down and killing the Imperials involved in Han’s death, including Kyle Ren.

Here’s the full list of debate topics and winners.

Who is the best action movie Hero?

Arnold Schwarzenegger handily beat out Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone.

What is the most frustrating Movie Ending?

In a round that was a lot closer than I thought it would be, ‘Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice’ ended up beating out both ‘Dark Knight Rises’ and ‘Revenge of the Sith.’

In a special question for Kevin Smith, he was asked: What is the best fictional movie band?

Unsurprisingly, he did not choose ‘Joey and the Pussycats,’ and instead went with the classic ‘Blues Brothers.’

What was the best use of profanity in a movie?

After a furious debate, Kevin Smith ended up picking “Smile you son of a bitch” from ‘Jaws,’ while the fans on Twitter picked “Yippe-Ki-Yay Motherf@#r” from ‘Die Hard.’

What Is the Best Talking Animal Movie?

‘Babe’ just barely edged out ‘Homeward Bound,’ a movie which would have done better had someone not compared it to ‘Milo and Otis.’

‘Dogma’ and ‘Mall Rats’ are both on cable, which do you watch?

No clear winner here, though Kevin Smith sided with ‘Mall Rats,’ which kind of makes that the winner.

Best Chewie Revenge Story:

Chewie kills Kylo Ren beat out a Clone Wars Throwback story (which would have been all about his revenge on Wookiee slavers)

Now after having read them for yourself, feel share to your opinions on the validity of these decisions in the comments section below,!
