Game of Thrones

For the first time in a long time, the heroes were able to rack up a few wins in last week’s episode of ‘Game of Thrones‘. However, as any fan of the show knows, that happiness doesn’t tend to last very long. Whether it’s a battle, a body part, or their life, the characters that we root for tend to lose something more often than not. And judging by all the smiling faces (or lack thereof) in the latest stills from the season six finale, we might be back to the everyday tragedies that come with the acclaimed HBO fantasy drama.

Ahead of tonight’s Season Six finale titled ‘The Winds of Winter’, HBO has released a few photos from the last ‘Game of Thrones’ episode of 2016. Featuring the likes of Daenerys Targaryen, Tyrion Lannister, the High Sparrow, Bronn, Walder Frey, and more, there’s certainly enough here to fuel your speculation regarding where your favorite characters will end up before the long break until the seventh season. You can check out the pictures in the gallery below:

Before you fully dive into your thoughts and theories about this episode, it’s interesting to note which characters are spotlighted in the network’s weekly press blast. First, it cannot be a coincidence that Ser Davos Seaworth pulled Shireen Baratheon’s wooden stag from the wreckage. Now that his mission with the Starks is complete, it’s very possible that we could see the Onion Knight finally get revenge for his surrogate daughter. Next, we’re obviously still hung up on the loss of his companion Hodor, but Bran Stark’s story must continue. The resilient warg and his estranged uncle have a tall order in front of them, so just how much of that will we get to see this week? Finally, does anyone else get the vibe that Ser Loras Tyrell is royally screwed? With his and Cersei Lannister’s trial on the horizon, the Queen Mother is surely prepared to throw her betrothed under whatever bus is heading her way.

What do you think about these pictures from the ‘Game of Thrones’ season six finale? Which characters’ fate are you most looking forward to discovering? And do you think that this week’s episode will top last week’s? Sound off in the comments.
