When we saw Hugh Jackman sporting a slightly more grey version of his signature Wolverine look earlier this month, we knew that filming for his final go as the iconic Marvel mutant was set to commence sooner rather than later. Now, we know that production is in full swing in New Orleans because some new pictures have surfaced online from the shoot.
Just Jared has some shots from the set of ‘Wolverine 3‘ featuring Jackman and Patrick Stewart as older versions of Logan and Professor Charles Xavier. Unfortunately, we cannot share the photos here due to copyright, but head over there to see these X-Men in action. We can say though that the outlet reports that the worse for wear warriors were shooting a scene that saw the duo running out of a casino and into a truck with a young girl. It is currently a mystery as to who this girl is or if she’s an established character from Marvel canon, although a recently uncovered casting call could potentially hold some answers.
Over the weekend, That Hashtag Show revealed a character breakdown that they received from a source that described a young girl that would be appearing in the film directed by James Mangold. Though some elements don’t quite match up to the comic mythology, it definitely sounds like this character could be a new version of Laura Kinney AKA X-23, the female clone of Wolverine. [ZOE] 11 to 14 year-old girl. Still a child, but a wounded badass, a pound puppy, raised in captivity in a time of battle, without support systems of normal childhood. She has no family and until now, has never left the compound in which she was born. She has an authentic intensity – her expressions and body language speak volumes, without words.
Once released in the outside world, everything is new – every experience and every image a first. This does not mean everything is wonderful or wondrous. Some things she sees (things we might regard as conventional) may scare her or anger her and things we may find interesting may bore her. She has not been instructed in many social conventions – she can eat like an animal. She studies and often mimics people’s behavior. She has a high IQ, but is also a temperamental, impulsive and feral creature that can raise genuine mayhem. She is a girl that has never been kissed.
Looking for a REAL girl – not made up or done up. Also with genuine edge, not made up or put on. Martial arts or gymnastics experience preferred but not necessary – but actress must be extremely physical and able to improvise scenes without necessarily resorting to speech. Do NOT play it “cute”.
Though this character breakdown could very well be describing X-23, we have no way of knowing if the person described here is the mystery girl in the scene with Professor X and Wolverine. Sure, the kid in the picture does look like she could be 11-14 years old, but she could just be a random student at the Institute or another young mutant that they’re helping. After all, we don’t know for certain what they’re up to for certain yet. With San Diego Comic Con coming up soon, hopefully 20th Century Fox will give us more information about Jackman’s final film as the hero formerly known as Weapon X despite the fact that they’re apparently skipping out on Hall H this year.
