The good news is that ‘Batman: The Killing Joke‘ is getting a big screen release that we’ve all secretly been hoping for but the bad news is that it will only be for one night. Yes, unless you happen to be free on Monday, July 25th, at 7:30 p.m. or 10:00 p.m. you won’t be seeing this one at a movie theater and only select theaters at that. Honestly, we should be happy that it is happening at all and thankfully Warner Brothers has teamed up with Fathom Events to make this a reality. Tickets are going on sale next Thursday which will be directly available from Fathom Events.
‘Batman: The Killing Joke’ is honestly the perfect infusion of graphic novel and animation as it is bringing us the Batman and Joker that so many grew up with on the animated series mixed with the 1988 Alan Moore and Brian Bolland release of ‘The Killing Joke’ which has gone on to become one of the most iconic Batman stories of all time.
Fathom Events Vice President of Studio Relations Tom Lucas says:
Fathom Events is thrilled to be able to bring ‘Batman: The Killing Joke’ to movie theaters across the country so fans can see it on the big screen. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment have created an amazing production based on a beloved graphic novel, and we’re honored to be a part of this release.
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Vice President, Family & Animation Marketing Ellen Thomas chimed in that:
Fans have been clamoring for a theatrical release of the popular DC Universe Original Movies, and the highly anticipated ‘Batman: The Killing Joke’ presented a perfect opportunity to work with Fathom Events to bring the fans’ wishes to fruition for this special, limited release
Of all of the animated films, I do have to agree that this is the one which I would be most excited to see on the big screen.
‘Batman: The Killing Joke’ will hit the big screen on July 25th and be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on August 2nd.
