Some new casting news might mean that filming for ‘Zombieland 2‘ is set to begin filming this August in Atlanta. When the 2009 release of ‘Zombieland’ was a smash hit earning over $100 million worldwide at the box office it seemed a sure fire bet that a sequel would be greenlit and moving along rather quickly. Fans loved it. The studio made a killing. But nothing ever materialized.

However, with a new logo for the film having been revealed at CinemaCon in Las Vegas early this month and casting sites looking up for extras and cast members, it seems like a sequel is finally going to happen.

In 2013, it looked as if Amazon was going to reboot the movie into an ongoing television show which was stopped in its tracks after the pilot failed to garner positive reviews. Flash forward a year later and it looks like Sony Pictures is once again looking to follow up the film and hired Dave Callaham to pen a script under Ruben Fleischer’s guiding hand who was all set to return to the director’s chair.

Right now we have no word if Callaham, Fleischer, or any of the original actors are returning. Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, and Abigail Breslin have all had quite a bit of work on their plates since the movie’s release and a few have stated they were leery on returning unless the script truly spoke to them. With years having gone by since the first movie it would be easy to write off some of the characters as dead and it’ll be interesting to see if they’ve hardened at all living in a world full of the undead over their almost carefree nature of the first movie.

Are you excited to hear that we may finally be getting to see ‘Zombieland 2’ on the big screen or have you lost interest in the adventures of these four in the last 7 years? Share your thoughts below!
