‘Iron Fist’, the fourth of the announced Netflix Marvel series is coming together as the show prepares to go into production to become available for streaming.  A date hasn’t been announced, but at this rate, it looks as if the show will go live next year, in order to pave the way for ‘The Defenders’ which will unite this title hero with the other Netflix/Marvel heroes Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.  ‘Daredevil’ already has two seasons available to stream and ‘Jessica Jones’ has one, but has been given the greenlight for a second.  ‘Luke Cage’ is shooting now and should be available next year.

‘Iron Fist’ already boasts ‘Game of Thrones’ alum Finn Jones as the title hero, also known as Danny Rand, who trains in the mystical city K’un L’un to become a master of the martial arts with a mystical bent.  In addition, David Wenham has been cast as Harold Meachum, who may be the Big Bad of the show.  In addition, fellow ‘GoT’ alum Jessica Henwick will portray Colleen Wing, another martial arts expert who, in the comics, is the partner of Misty Knight played by Simone Missick on ‘Luke Cage’.

Now two more names have been added.  First is Jessica Stroup, who may be best known for playing “Silver” (a.k.a. Erin Silver) the half-sister of Kelly Taylor and David Silver on the updated ‘90210’.  She also had a role on ‘The Following’.

Stroup will portray Joy Meachum on ‘Iron Fist’.  In the comics, Joy is the daughter of Harold and initially acts as an antagonist after she stumbles upon Iron Fist standing over her father’s dead body and mistakenly believes the hero is responsible for his death.

In addition, David Wenham has been cast as Ward Meachum.  In the comics, Ward is Joy’s uncle and Harold’s brother, but in this incarnation, he will actually be Harold’s son and Joy’s brother.

Here is how their roles are described:

“The children of Harold Meachum (Wenham), Joy and Ward have spent their lives building Rand Enterprises to its current standing in the world, only to have all their work put in jeopardy when Danny returns to claim his birthright. They are childhood acquaintances of Danny Rand’s who now play an important role in Rand Enterprises.”

Wenham appeared as Dilios in both ‘300’ movies and has also starred in various TV series, most recently ‘The Code’ (in Australia) and ‘Banished’ (in Great Britain).
