Lately, it doesn’t feel like a new Transformers movie without a new female lead and in ‘Transformers 5‘ we’ve learned that Isabela Moner (‘Splitting Adam’,’Growing Up Fisher’) has just been cast. Primarily known for her work on Nickelodeon, Moner is a relative newcomer to the world of big budget action films. It’s too early to tell if they are trying to use her as a lure to get a younger generation familiar with her work to check out the next installment pitting Autobot vs Decepticon or if they just wanted a fresh face.
What we know about the character Izabella is that she is a street-smart tomboy that will have grown up as an orphan and raised in foster care. She isn’t alone, though, as her one friend is a small Transformer. She considers herself alone until she ends up meeting Wahlberg’s Cade Yeager.
She absolutely feels too young to play across from Mark Wahlberg as a romantic interest which makes me believe that they’ll be playing this off that either she has a crush on him or more likely end up placing him as a surrogate father figure to her character.
There isn’t much news about the plot as of yet aside from the fact that this will be the first installment in a new story arc for the series. What we do know is that with Michael Bay set to return once again and both Steven Spielberg and Akiva Goldsman involved behind the scenes that at least visually we will once again be in for a treat.
Hopefully, with the rest of the talent on board the script will fare better this time around.
