Wonder Woman Gal GadotWonder Woman is often described as being as beautiful as Aphrodite, wise as Athena, swifter than Hermes, and stronger than Hercules.  In the comics, the character has super human strength, can fly and an impressive armory that includes her bulletproof bracelets, Lasso of Truth and her Invisible Jet.  She has been an ambassador of peace and the God of War.  So what trait is the most important facet of her complex personality when it comes to introducing her to a new generation of moviegoers?

The actor who portrays her, Gal Gadot recently gave an interview for ‘Glamour’ in which she provided her answer:

“It was important for me that we show how independent she is. She is not relying on a man, and she’s not there because of a love story. She’s not there to serve someone else.”

She doesn’t mind being tied up every now and then, though.

Gadot’s response makes sense, but what’s sad is that it even had to be said.  Male heroes, like Superman and Batman have love interests, but they are typically extraneous and are never their motivation.  So will Wonder Woman be treated as more of a woman or simply a wonder?

We’ll have to wait and see.  But not much longer.  Gadot’s Wonder Woman, makes her highly anticipated debut in ‘Batman V Superman’ later this month, but she’ll be back next year in her own solo movie and in ‘Justice League – Part One’.
