We’ve known for a while that ‘Wonder Woman’ takes place in multiple time periods, most likely through flashbacks (although time travel isn’t necessarily out of the question) possibly with Chris Pine playing two roles, as a modern day Steve Trevor and possibly even as his own father or grandfather.  We may not know the exact details, but Pine and titular star Gal Gadot have recently been spied (and snapped) on the set on the banks of the Thames, in Southend, Essex.  Also present was Ewan Bremner, whose role is unknown at this time plus 150 extras also decked out in period costumes.

Presumably, the bright blue coat is NOT part of the costume.  It was 12° Celsius (53° F), so apparently Gadot was just keeping warm between takes.

As you can see, beneath the modern jacket, Gadot’s Diana is decked out in a full length coat cinched at the waist with a leather belt and topped off with a stylish wide-brimmed hat.

Pine is sporting a military style uniform with knee-length trousers and a big jacket with fur trim, as well as a black (or navy) cap.

While the costumes are clearly “period” it’s still unclear what time period that is, but most are going with World War I, which raged from 1914-1918.  It’s not clear what significance this time holds, but it is said to be the setting of Wonder Woman’s first battle with Ares the god of war.

One bit of insight offered is a sign reading ‘French money exchanged here for officers and soldiers in uniform’, indicating that the British soldiers are returning from the front lines of France.  Incidentally, portions of the film are slated to film in France as well as Italy.

What do you think about what you’ve seen so far?  It’s certainly stylish at least!
