aaron-paul

Two years ago we had reported that Aaron Paul (‘Breaking Bad’,’Need for Speed’) had met with Ron Howard about joining Stephen King’s ‘The Dark Tower‘ adaptation and a new rumor has him again attached to the film. Interestingly enough though Aaron had been wanting to be a part of the film as far back as 2012 when he tweeted that he wanted to play Eddie Dean on the series. Multiple sources from inside the production who are being labeled as reliable are claiming that he has indeed been cast.

Playing a lead that is second fiddle and a recovering junky is what truly made him a star as Jessie Pinkman in ‘Breaking Bad’ so this would almost be like revisiting old ground for the actor. Not that I wouldn’t love seeing him play off Idris Elba as Roland and be one of the members of his ka-tat.

I honestly think that the two would work great together and would have the kind of on screen banter that would feel not only natural but fitting for King’s work.

All of that being said, those who have said he was cast have not specifically stated that he is going to play Eddie Dean and on top of that, no one has put their name on the record so at this time we’re still firmly in rumor-ville. We’ve already heard from Stephen King that “[The movie] starts in media res, in the middle of the story instead of at the beginning.” Arcel added, “a lot of it takes place in our day, in the modern world” so it wouldn’t be surprising to see Eddie being introduced early on instead of in the second movie as he didn’t make an appearance in the first novel.

This is a role that Paul really just seems to have been born to play and potential typecasting aside, I hope not only that the offer was made but that he accepted it. I’m sure we’ll be hearing sooner than later on if this has officially gone through or not.
