batman-vs-superman-trailer

During the Academy Awards telecast, late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel presented some humorous clips from various stars and that included Ben Affleck, a member of Kimmel’s Handsome Men’s Club and best friend of running joke target Matt Damon.  Affleck previously popped up on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ to debut a full-length trailer for the upcoming ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’.  Then during the Oscars, Affleck appeared alongside co-stars Henry Cavill (Superman/Clark Kent) and Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor) during a prerecorded gag clip, before introducing an extended clip from the movie.

The clip emphasized the ‘V’ part of ‘Batman V Superman’, showing a glimpse of the battle between the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight.  Superman utters the phrase “If I wanted it, you’d be dead already.”  (Because flight.  Heat vision.  Kryptonite, that, rich boy.)

The clip doesn’t spoil anything, but may offer a bit of insight into the tone of the movie.  We see Batman decked out in his battle armor, using the Bat Signal to draw Superman into the confrontation.

Watch for yourself below:

Watch out, Superman!  He has a smoke grenade!  You wouldn’t want to… cough.

Okay, we don’t know the context of this scene.  It appears to be a second face-off between the pair, as in the initial meeting, Batman is wearing his ‘Dark Knight Returns’ inspired suit, not the chunky armor seen here.  We still don’t quite get the animosity between the two, beyond Affleck’s voice over in previous clips which cast suspicion on Superman with his godlike abilities.  What happens if he goes rogue?  Could anyone stop him?

With less than a month to go, Warner Brothers has pretty much revealed all they are going to about this film.  But we may see a few more extended scenes like these surfacing, just to flesh things out in the public’s mind.

‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, and Jesse Eisenberg hits theaters on March 25, 2016.

What do you think?  Does Batman stand a chance against Superman?
