Powerless Danny Pudi Christina Kirk Alan Tudyk

Live-action NBC sitcom ‘Powerless’ has scored some major talent this week. Previously, the single-camera half-hour workplace comedy set in the worst insurance company in the DC Universe found it’s lead in ‘High School Musical’ and ‘Spring Breakers’ star Vanessa Hudgens. But now, the series from ‘A to Z’ creator Ben Queen and Warner Bros. TV brought on a trio of talent from some very popular fan favorite shows.

According to Deadline, ‘Powerless’ has added Alan Tudyk, Christina Kirk, and Danny Pudi to the cast. Best known for his work as Hoban “Wash” Washburne from ‘Firefly’ and ‘Serenity’, Tudyk will play a “rich, over-educated globetrotting wastrel” named Del. He’s the boss of Hudgens’ Emily that is only in the position he’s in because his father owns the company. Kirk, who will play Del’s assistant/superhero fangirl Jackie, should be familiar to fans of showrunner Queen’s work as she appeared on ‘A to Z’. Finally, ‘Community’ star Pudi will be Emily’s confidante and office joker Teddy. He spends his days creating time-wasting pranks as a way to make their office AKA the “least super place on earth” just a little more super.

The cast of ‘Powerless’ is comprised of some pretty major players so far. A superhero sitcom is enough reason to tune into NBC this fall, but with names like Tudyk and Pudi on board, the comic con crowd that they’re definitely targeting with this program will certainly be more inclined to check it out. Plus, with Hudgens’ recent acclaim garnered from ‘Grease Live’, the general public is sure to be excited about what the young actress is up to next. But now I’m curious as to whether they’ll add any familiar names from the pages of DC Comics any time soon. It’s expected that the heroes and villains will be mentioned by the people who work in the office, but hopefully we’ll be seeing some of them as well.
