We all know that Fox and Marvel Studios don’t see eye to eye on just about anything, so the ‘Deadpool‘ writers have announced which Marvel Studios hero they would have loved to fit into the next movie but can’t. In the comics Deadpool has gone up against The Hulk and the writers would love to run with that storyline. In print we’ve seen Wade get beaten down by The Hulk, She Hulk, Red She Hulk, and work both with and against Red Hulk. Pretty much he’s gone up with most of the Hulks at this point who are still around aside from The Totally Awesome Hulk and there is still plenty of time for that one.
Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick know they can only use mutants and lament that they can’t use The Hulk:
“We can’t, but that’s a rights issue because Fox only [has] the rights to Fantastic Four and X-Men, but I would love to see the Hulk against Deadpool, because it would be really fun to see Deadpool having to use his agility and his silliness and skills to overcome just brute force. Maybe we can figure out another way to do that with another character in the X-Men universe, but I would love to see him square up against the Hulk. It would be hilarious.”
That would be a cinematic masterpiece if how Banner has treated Loki in ‘The Avengers’ was any indication. Thankfully they still have plenty of opportunities for similar matchups within mutant canon. Aside from Colossus who was just re-introduced they can always bring back The Juggernaut, a powered up Rogue, or give us the premiere of characters such as the mutant from The Runaways, Molly Hayes or James Proudstar who would be a great addition as ‘X-Force’ appears to be in the works.
For comedic value, I’d personally love to see Deadpool have to go up against Spidey but again, a rights issue.
Which non-mutant super hero or villain would you love to see Deadpool have to tackle? Who do you think they’ll use to recreate the fight idea that they’d want to do? Share your thoughts below!
