If you haven’t watched the two-part pilot for DC’s ‘Legends of Tomorrow‘ so far I have to apologize as this will be spoiler heavy when it comes to Hawkman. In fact, what we’ll be talking about here applies to both Hawkman and Hawkgirl. Those familiar with the characters know that historically they quite often die and are reborn over time so it should have come as no surprise that the Carter Hall Hawkman was brutally murdered by Vandal Savage at the closure of last week’s episode.
So will we be seeing him again? Of course! Thanks to reincarnation and time travel we have plenty of Hawkman to look forward to! Only, they won’t quite be the Carter Hall version.
As Kendra Saunder’s current incarnation of Hawkgirl was just getting her memories of past lives back she is pretty shaken up by this death. However as Executive Producer Phil Klemmer states this won’t quite be the last of him:
What we’re going to explore in our show is her gradually remembering all the lives they had together in various time periods and how they inform this life, how everything she’s learned in her 208 deaths will give her the strength and power and knowledge on how to not fail this time, when she will ultimately confront Vandal Savage.
With 208 lives behind here there are plenty of instances for Hawkman to pop up once again. So flashbacks and time travel will clearly give us more chances for the hero to show up on the small screen. As one of the best iterations of the hero to date I think anyone who has been loving this take on him will be thrilled that we can see him again.
With the current Hawkman dead will she abandon her on again off again love cycle and return to exploring her feelings for Cisco or is this just the start of a quest to be reunited with her love in the next cycle? Kellmer goes into that as well by saying:
You can imagine, should Kendra embark on a present-day romance story with someone aboard our ship or someone beyond our ship, that would really complicate things. You meet the guy you’re destined to fall in love with over the past 4,000 years, that seems like a pretty juicy love triangle that we’d like to get to some day.
I strongly suspect that we’ll be getting a love triangle here. Though how does a mortal stuck in one time period compare to an immortal love that spans centuries? Only time and the rest of the season will tell.
Are you glad to hear that we aren’t done seeing Hawkman on ‘Legends of Tomorrow’? DO you think the show really needs to fit a love triangle into its only season? Share your thoughts below!
