With the premiere of ‘Daredevil’ Season 2 just around the corner, fans are beginning  to ask a lot of questions about the new characters Matt Murdock will be encountering the second time around, especially in regards to his dangerous ex-girlfriend, Elektra. One of the primary questions is about her costume, and whether it will stay true to what we have seen in the comics.

One of the most exciting elements of the first season of ‘Daredevil’ was watching the evolution of Matt’s costume, culminating in the costume that most resembled his comic-counterpart in the finale. Now fans are wondering whether Elektra’s outfit will go through a similar transformation, or whether they will be going in a whole different direction. According to co-show-runner Doug Petrie, who spoke with his counterpart Marco Ramirez recently at the Television Critics Association Winter Press tour:

“We love the comics – we’re fans – but, we wanted Elektra’s costume to be reasonable for a martial artist and she’s also a little bit of a stylist… There’s definitely a costume, but it needs to happen organically like we saw on Daredevil.”

As for the character herself, star Elodie Yung had her thoughts on the character she would be portraying, most likely based on lengthy conversations with the showrunners based on what they wanted to see on screen:

“We think Elektra is kind of a sociopath. This world is a game for her, like a chess game. What motivates her is what she wants. She’ll use anything … to get to her goal. On the other hand, we wanted to create a character with different layers. I think Elektra is not a bad person. She’s not a good person. She’s a person with different traits.”

What are your thoughts on how Elektra is going to be portrayed this time around, both personality and costume-wise? Make sure to check out the new synopsis for ‘Daredevil’ Season 2 (below), and then share your thoughts on the show in general or Elektra in particular in the comments section below!
