When a rumor for ‘Marvel’s Most Wanted‘ popped up earlier this year, it was quickly shot down but ABC has just doubled back and decided to order a pilot for the series!
This spinoff from ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘ would follow the exploits of Adrianne Palicki’s Bobbi Morse or Mockingbird and Nick Blood’s Lance Hunter. The concept was brought forth by Jeffrey Bell and Paul Zbyszewski who are producers on ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ and will be co-writing the pilot for the network. If the series is picked up, they will end up being the showrunners and Executive Produce with Marvel’s head of television Jeph Loeb.
Insiders are trying to say that this isn’t a spinoff but a new project which focusses on the characters but even with a different tone and agenda, it will be two characters from the main series out on their own. As the title is ‘Marvel’s Most Wanted,’ you have to imagine that either the pair are running down super villains or are now on the run. Are they going to be on a secret S.H.I.E.L.D. task force all by themselves? Another government agency? Vigilantes? On the run from having to do something very illegal to save the world during the next season of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’? There are a slew of options as to what we could see play out on screen.
If it is going to be an offshoot from the third season, I imagine we’ll be hearing more about this sooner than later.
It is interesting to see this announcement now with ‘Agent Carter’ returning for a second season, ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ tapped for a third season, the comedy Damage Control in the works, and the secretive John Ridley Marvel project for the studio. While I have no problems with five ongoing Marvel themed shows on ABC it might be a bit much for some fans to follow.
