Marvel/ Netflix continues its onslaught of seasons this year, the latest, of course, being the one fans have been waiting the longest for, ‘Daredevil’ Season 3, which delivered a brand new trailer along with the day Season 3 is going to premiere on the streaming service, Friday October 19th.
The trailer itself promises a much darker tone for Season 3, which feels very much in line with the ‘Born Again’ storyline from the comics the season is rumored to be based on, with Matt Murdock looking beaten and sporting a very bloody face for most of the trailer and with numerous hints that Fisk is back. The season looks to delve very deep into the themes of good versus evil, especially in regards to vigilante justice, as it seems all of Matt’s experiences with the Hand and Elektra (in ‘Daredevil’ Season 1 and 2, and ‘The Defenders’) seem to have left him with a lethal attitude when it comes to taking down crime and “evil” like Wilson Fisk, as he is heard narrating the following in the trailer:
“There’s only one true way to end evil. To finish it for good. Let the devil out.”
Based on the poster images, the series is also finally delving into some of the Catholic iconography and influence that the comic book has, which dovetails nicely with the “good versus evil” stuff, not to mention that post-‘The Defenders’ the last time we saw Matt was when he was recuperating from his injuries while being watched over by a group of nuns, one of whom may be his mother.
