Well… I was NOT expecting this. Last year’s ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ produced by Michael Bay (the ‘Transformers’ franchise) starring Megan Fox (half of the ‘Transformers’ franchise) looked like… a ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ movie produced by the guy who made the ‘Transformers’ movies with that girl that was in two of the ‘Transformers’ movies.
So when they basically went straight into production on a sequel, which is coming out next year, a scant two years after the last, my expectations weren’t high… or even mediocre. But the new trailer… well, it’s not bad!
Oh, it’s not brilliant or Earth-shattering, despite the ample explosions. But it is more like the original 80s cartoon than I think any ‘TMNT’ movie ever has been, even the ones that came out back in the day.
That’s mainly because this one features the actual villains from the cartoon– Shredder (Brian Tee), Baxter Stockman (Tyler Perry) and of course, warthog Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams) and rhino Rocksteady (Stephen Farrelly a.k.a. WWE wrestler Sheamus)! And what a difference these characters make!
Also, joining the Turtles is ‘Arrow’ star Stephen Amell as fan-favorite Casey Jones, another character that should make longtime enthusiasts happy.
It looks as if the film now has an official title, ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows’.

For now, what do you think? Does it make you say “Cowabunga?” Or “Bogus?
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows’ will be revealed in theaters on June 3, 2016.
