The holiday season is ramping up, but don’t expect much of a post-Christmas lull, as The CW is seriously building up its already impressive DC comics lineup which is currently comprised of ‘Arrow’ and ‘The Flash’.  Come January, various heroes and villains from those shows will band together under the guidance of time traveler Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) as the ‘Legends of Tomorrow’.

This new team is comprised of Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer/The Atom (recast more as a DC version of Iron Man), Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/White Canary, Wentworth Miller as Leonard Snart/Captain Cold, Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory/Heatwave, Ciara Renée as Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl, Falk Hentschel as Carter Hall/Hawkman and Victor Garber and Franz Drameh as Professor Martin Stein and Jay Jackson respectively, who combine to become Firestorm the Nuclear Man.  Though an unlikely gathering, Hunter has selected these individuals because in his future home, they are Legends.

The team travels to various periods aboard Hunter’s ship the Waverider (a nod to a time-travelling DC hero) in an attempt to battle immortal villain Vandal Savage (Casper Crump).

Expect loads of paradoxes as well as the teases a character from the future guarantees.

In the first full trailer for ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ you can catch glimpses of the various heroes and villains in action and listen closely to Hunter’s voice over as it teases two other major heroes:

Did you catch the sentence, “I’ve seen Men of Steel die and Dark Knights fall?”  Obviously, we all know who he’s talking about, but does that mean at some point Superman and Batman could pop up on ‘Arrow’, ‘The Flash’ or ‘Legends of Tomorrow’?  Uh, no.  I’m going with no way.  (Although the possibility of a ‘Supergirl’ crossover is still on the table.)  But still, it’s a nice reference.

Are you excited to see this team in action?
