We’ve known about the controversialLucifer‘ for awhile now and Fox has just revealed when the show will finally launch on the network! Not only that but Amazon has struck a deal with Fox to stream the series to the UK shortly after its US release and has provided a trailer with new footage to share. The show itself will be premiering on Fox on Monday, January 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT right after one of the episodes of ‘The X-Files’ revival.

The show is based off of a version of Lucifer created by Neil Gaiman where he has given up the crown of Hell and moved to Earth to start fresh. Only Fox has made this into a snarky police procedural but it still looks like it could have some potential assuming if Tom Ellis can carry the show long enough for a strong plot to be developed.

You can check out the Amazon Prime launch trailer below!

I’m still not sold on the look of the show but Tom could be fun to watch in the role of the Fallen Angel that everyone loves to hate. That and the pilot has been getting rave reviews so it will at least might be worth watching the first batch of episodes.

Synopsis:

The series stars Tom Ellis (Rush) in the title role as Lucifer, who, bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals. Co-starring alongside Ellis are Lauren German (Chicago Fire) as Chloe Dancer, an LAPD homicide detective who finds herself both repulsed and fascinated by Lucifer; Lesley-Ann Brandt (Spartacus) as Lucifer’s best friend Maze, a fierce demon who takes the form of a human woman; Nicholas Gonzalez (Sleepy Hollow) as Dan, an LAPD homicide detective wary of Lucifer; D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel, an angel sent to L.A. to persuade Lucifer to return to hell; and Rachael Harris as Linda, Lucifer’s therapist.

‘Lucifer’ premiers on Fox on Monday, January 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT and stars Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Rachael Harris, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, and Scarlett Estevez.
