How many times have you seen the new ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ trailer? I’m up to a bakers dozen. I recorded it when it originally aired this week on Monday Night Football (a recording that surely confused my DVR) and replayed it four or five times before deleting it. I only deleted it when I realized it was online and posted right here on ScienceFiction.com. This is my favorite trailer for the film, but I don’t want to forget that there is previously released footage to further my unreasonable enthusiasm for the upcoming flick. Luckily, I no longer have to chose which trailer to watch, I can have it all!

The YouTube channel ScreenSlam has made a trailer that mashes up the most recent with the first trailer that dropped last November in all it’s tri-bladed lightsaber glory and the one from this April that invigorated fandom with Harrison Ford saying to his favorite Wookiee, “Chewie, we’re home,” — a sentiment to which we can all soon relate. Here it is:

It’s just under four minutes. This is a shorter time than you would spend watching all the trailers back-to-back, but that would include some repeated footage that the mashup streamlines. It looks great and I am tempted to have it run on a loop on mute. I say on mute because listening to it doesn’t deliver the same emotional impact as the last official trailer did. ScreenSlam mashes up the sound along with the images and sonically it just doesn’t flow. I’m not up for anything breaking into a John Williams score. Maybe I’m a purest.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ comes our December 18th, as if you didn’t know.
