Jeff Wadlow’s ‘Kick-Ass 2’, which has apparently dropped the ‘Balls to the Wall’ part of the titles, has officially started shooting in Toronto. Over the past few weeks, cast members such as Andy Nyman, Lindy Booth, and seemingly Jim Carrey have been added to the film, but it was still a mystery as to who would play Red Mist’s extremely dangerous bodyguard, Mother Russia. Now, according to Collider, we finally have the answer.

It looks like Olga Kurkulina will be playing the part of Mother Russia, a former Spetsnaz and KGB member who acts as Red Mist’s answer to Kick-Ass’ friend Hit Girl. From what I can find, this Ukrainian-born bodybuilder doesn’t have any acting experience, but she certainly fits the bill for the character. She looks like the female version of Ivan Drago, although she could probably beat Rocky Balboa.

In addition to the casting announcement, some on-set spies managed to grab the first look at Kurkulina in costume on set in Canada, as well as some other pictures around the set, which include some battle-damaged NYPD cars. Judging by the picture, they’re departing from the original look of the character from the comic books because she’s missing her tattoos, but she has the trademark eyepatch. It’s also possible that they haven’t been applied yet, so who knows? You can see all the photos below courtesy of Comic Book Movie (via Comicbook.com):

Now set for release on June 28, 2013, ‘Kick-Ass 2’ stars Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Nicolas Cage as they reprise their roles from Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of Mark Millar’s popular comic book.
