‘The Avengers’ director Joss Whedon announced that the fan favorite miniseries that he created during the 2007-2008 writers strike, ‘Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog’, would be airing on The CW network this fall. When it was announced, the date was uncertain, but now we can tell you exactly when the good (the bad?) doctor will be making house calls.

According to Deadline, the musical starring ‘How I Met Your Mother’ star Neil Patrick Harris, Captain of Serenity Nathan Fillion, and geek goddess Felica Day will air on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 9:00pm following a new episode of ‘Hart of Dixie’. The movie will be warming up the timeslot for new medical drama ‘Emily Owens, MD’, which will debut the following week.

A labor of love by Whedon, his wife Maurissa Tanchareon, and his brothers Jed and Zack during the strike, ‘Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog’ tells the story of Billy/Dr. Horrible as he tries to get into the Evil League of Evil by defeating his arch-nemesis Captain Hammer while simultaneously trying to impress the girl of his dreams.

If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend firmly planting yourself in front of your television sets on October 9th at 9:00pm to watch it. Or, better yet, go buy the DVD and soundtrack right now on Amazon or something and then rewatch it when it plays on the CW. Seriously, it’s awesome. Don’t believe me? Here’s a taste for you:
