With ‘Beetlejuice 2‘ getting ready to happen, Geena Davis (‘Thelma & Louise’,’The Fly’) was recently asked if she would reprise her role for the film. If Davis does return ,she would be joining an already confirmed Winona Ryder (‘Edward Scissorhands’,’Dracula’) and Michael Keaton (‘Birdman‘,’Batman’) in a sequel that has been 30 years in the making. While Davis was one of the leads in the first film, the direction of the sequel could just as easily not include her and her on screen husband going forward.

So what did this Oscar winner say when asked if she was returning to her role in one of the most well known horror comedies of all time?

“I did hear that it’s really happening. No one’s talked to me about it. I would love to! That was one of my favorite movies, too…But ghosts probably don’t age, and it’s going to be 30 years now. Of course, I haven’t aged, but I think Alec Baldwin maybe has aged, perhaps.”

With ghosts aging being an issue it is quite understandable why Davis may not have been approached for the film. That and they would need both her and Alec Baldwin (‘The Departed’,’The Hunt for Red October’) to really make it happen. That is assuming that there is even room for the two with whatever direction the sequel will be taking. Chances are the film will mostly revolve around Ryder and Keaton’s characters. Still, if they do have a plan for including her and Alec it is quite clear that at the very least she would be open to working with Burton and the rest of the cast again. It will be interesting to see what causes Ryder’s character to once again feel the need to summon The Ghost With The Most.

Are you looking forward to ‘Beetlejuice 2’? Will you be sad if Davis and Baldwin don’t return to reprise their characters or do you think that the film actually still needs them? Share your thoughts below!
