What I’m about to share with you hasn’t shown up in any of the trailers yet so this apparent rumor confirmation may be a big spoiler for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ and you’ll want to turn back now if you’re avoiding them. It seems that a recent interview in The Costco Connection (of all places) with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy may have given a massive slip up about the future of ‘Star Wars.’ Sure, the interview mostly focussed on the vast history of the franchise but one key quote is sticking out to anyone who reads it.
While we already knew that the anthology films were all going to be ways to explore the ‘Star Wars’ universe, it seems that the episodic titles are going to continue following the lives of the families from the original trilogy. More importantly, the Skywalker family. That’s right! It seems that there is now confirmation that we’re going to be getting ongoing stories about the Skywalker family as the main focus of the upcoming films so it would seem to prove that at least one of the newcomers is going to be pretty important.
Here is what she had to say about it:
“The Saga films focus on the Skywalker family saga. The stories follow a linear narrative that connects to the previous six films. The Force Awakens follows Return of the Jedi and continues that generational story. The Anthology films offer opportunities to explore fresh characters, new storylines and a variety of genres inside the Star Wars universe.”
This seems to prove that one of the younger cast members in the series is going to be a Skywalker. Of course, that isn’t to say if it is Luke’s or Leia’s child, or even multiple children for that matter. Most of the newer cast members have been suspected at being a Jedi if not the descendant of one of the main characters so it’ll be interesting to see who actually end up being part of the most influential family in a galaxy far far away.
