The Nerdist is getting into movies in a big way as they have just released ‘The Hive’ on most major digital platforms and are about to offer it up through On Demand services. Chris Hardwick‘s Nerdist Industries has been growing since first formed and now have expanded into bringing a new horror film out for us all to enjoy. This is the first movie that the studio is distributing after a one-night theatrical event that Fathom Events hosted in 500 theaters to rave reviews. Currently the film can be snagged from iTunes, Google Play, Vimeo, Amazon, Playstation, and Microsoft Movies with the VOD release date of October 12th.

Directed by David Yarovesky the film stars Gabriel Basso (‘Super 8′,’The Kings of Summer’) as Adam who, with 3 fellow camp counselors, go to explore a plane which has crashed. Unfortunately this plane sets Adam up with severe memory loss and everyone around him turning into violent monsters.

While the various premises here have been used before, they typically haven’t been done in conjunction. I think the trailer shows a lot of merit and can see why Nerdist decided that this one was worth investing in and can’t wait to check it out.

Are you looking forward to watching ‘The Hive’? Which digital platform will you be checking it out on?

Synopsis:

At the height of summer, Adam and Katie find love for the first time. Fellow camp counselors Clark and Jess couldn’t care less about the kids they’re overseeing as long as they can hook up. But, when a plane crashes nearby, their investigation unleashes a mysterious plague, putting all campers in danger.

As Camp Yellow Jacket slips into chaos, Adam wakes in a boarded-up cabin with no memory of who or where he is. His only clues are the notes he’s scrawled for himself and memories that aren’t his own. As his friends turn into monsters around him, the key to surviving the apocalypse is locked in one infected counselor’s mind.

‘The Hive’ is available from most major digital platforms and will be released On Demand on October 12th, 2015.
