Developing multiple sequels at once seems to be a pretty popular trend right now. Not only is James Cameron working on multiple ‘Avatar’ movies right now, but earlier this week Ridley Scott shared that there may be a few ‘Prometheus’ sequels in the works as well. However, before we get to ‘Prometheus 3’ or ‘Prometheus 4’, we have to get through the follow-up to the acclaimed director’s 2012 sci-fi adventure starring Noomi Rapace, Logan Marshall-Green, Michael Fassbender, and Charlize Theron. And now we have a small update on that film. At least, we know what it will be called.

In a recent interview with HeyUGuys about his latest film ‘The Martian’, Scott was asked to comment on the state of ‘Prometheus 2’ and when it would connect to the ‘Alien’ franchise. It was then that the filmmaker revealed that the upcoming sequel would actually be called ‘Alien: Paradise Lost.’ You can hear the director share this news around the 3:19 mark in the video below:

Continuing with literary references, the title is a reference to John Milton’s epic poem of the same name about the fall of man. Although, it might also be a reference to a scene in the first ‘Prometheus’ film where Elizabeth Shaw’s father discusses where dead people go with his young daughter. Either way, we’ve been hearing for some time that the word “paradise” would factor into the title somehow. Now that we know exactly how, this may give us a vague idea of what to expect from the second ‘Alien’ pseudo-prequel.

What do you think about the new title to ‘Prometheus 2’? Are you surprised that it will be called ‘Alien: Paradise Lost’? And based on the John Milton poem that the movie is seemingly named for, do you think that Elizabeth Shaw, David, and the rest will meet their fall in the upcoming film?
