With ‘Suicide Squad‘ being the first film out of the gate after ‘Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice,’ it seems logical to wonder if the Man of Steel will show up in the film at all. We already know of scenes that have Ben Affleck’s Batman squaring off against The Joker in it and if the Caped Crusader is in it why not Superman? Rumors also place both Aquaman and Lex Luthor in the movie with Aquaman in prison and Luthor in an unknown role. So if Superman needed to save one or confront the other it could be a good time to show up and could even pop in with it making sense.
Of course those rumors are just that and we don’t even know if the film is set after the events of ‘Man of Steel’ or the upcoming introduction to The Dark Knight. During the course of ‘Suicide Squad’ for all we know Superman could still be dealing with Metropolis and the fallout of his actions.
In a recent interview, Henry Cavill was asked directly that and his answer was very straight forward:
No!
No beating around the bush there. In a movie already plagued with far too many big name actors this seems like a pretty logical choice. Plus if he was in the picture, he could most likely stop anything that Amanda Waller’s team is up to without breaking a sweat.
That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if a post credit scene was filmed before ‘Suicide Squad’ is released to tease ‘Justice League’ or another upcoming DC film.
However, that doesn’t mean we’ll never see Superman having to deal with these villains as when he was asked if he may appear in ‘Suicide Squad 2’ his response was:
I Might Be.
So there is still a chance we could see Superman and The Joker in the same film! I highly doubt we’ll ever get the confrontation between these two that took place in ‘Injustice’ no matter how dark they are trying to make this cinematic universe.
You know which scene I’m talking about:
I just don’t see them going quite that far.
With how much they are having Superman involved with the government so far though it wouldn’t be a stretch that he would eventually either cross paths or learn about the ‘Suicide Squad’.
