When True Believers return to theaters to catch ‘X-Men: Apocalypse‘ next summer, they should expect a new crop of mutants fighting alongside some familiar faces as they take on a few challenging foes in the form of the legendary Apocalypse and his Four Horsemen made up of Angel, Storm, Psylocke, and Magneto. However, it seems like there may be other villains joining the fray as well. In fact, the latest report says that the production may be bringing in a really big gun to really throw his weight around. And let me tell you, it’s a lot of weight.

Instagram user Benofk_funko recently posted a souvenir keychain from the set of ‘Apocalypse,’ where he spent four days on the set hanging out with the cast. In his post, he specifically mentions a few X-Men like Nightcrawler and Beast as people he spent time with, but he also lists The Blob among the characters that he saw during his set visit. Check out the post to see for yourself:

Also known as Frederick J. Dukes, Blob is a long-running X-Men foe affiliated with the Brotherhood of Mutants. Mostly utilized as some sort of henchman, he possesses an extreme amount of body mass that grants him superhuman strength and resilience. The character made his first live-action appearance in ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine,’ where he was played by Kevin Durand and his mutant abilities were stripped from him in favor of simply letting himself go. But apparently this time around, Blob will be played by an unnamed “540 lbs French-Canadian dude” instead of utilizing special effects makeup or CGI.

Bryan Singer and a number of filmmakers involved with 20th Century Fox’s X-Men film universe have done a lot to rectify the unforgivable wrongs perpetrated by the creative team behind ‘X-Men Origins,’ so it’s about time that the Blob be done right on the big screen. But that being said, what role will he play in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’? And who is this husky Canadian playing him? As we wait for these answers and more, leave your thoughts and theories in the comments below.

‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ starring Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Ben Hardy, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Lana Condor, Olivia Munn, and Oscar Isaac opens in theaters on May 27, 2016.
