When the Walt Disney Company acquired Lucasfilm in 2012, many assumed that it was only a matter of time before ‘Star Wars’ had a larger presence at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. But rumors seemed to appear every few months about theme park plans being delayed or an expansion to Tomorrowland to accommodate more ‘Star Wars’ stuff. However, all those reports can now be thrown out the window because Disney has finally announced their theme park plans for the legendary film series.

At this year’s D23 Expo over the weekend, Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger revealed that brand new themed lands based on the beloved movie franchise from a galaxy far, far away are coming to the House of Mouse’s trademark theme parks in California and Florida. Expected to take up 14 acres at both Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Iger was ecstatic to unveil the largest single-themed land expansions in Disney Park history

“I am thrilled to announce the next chapter in the long and exciting history between Disney Parks and ‘Star Wars’. We are creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single themed land expansion ever. These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new ‘Star Wars’ planet, including an epic ‘Star Wars‘ adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.”

Once construction is complete, this new, never-before-seen world from the ‘Star Wars’ universe being created at the Disney Resorts will be a “remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space”. The area will come complete with themed food areas (like a certain cantina), new entertainment, inhabitants of planets throughout the galaxy, and a ride aboard the iconic Millennium Falcon. Check out the teaser for the upcoming additions below, followed by artistic renderings of what’s to come:

Although, fans won’t have to wait very long for more ‘Star Wars’ adventures at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Imagineer Scott Trowbridge announced a brand new limited time event called ‘Season of the Force’ during the Disney Parks panel. Scheduled to kick off in early 2016, the event will see an upgrade to Star Tours involving new destinations from ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ the addition of the interactive Star Wars Launch Bay exhibit, and an exciting new overlay for the fan favorite Tomorrowland attraction Space Mountain known as Hyperspace Mountain. You can see Trowbridge make this announcement in this video:
