Peggy Carter is moving out west for the second season of ‘Agent Carter,’ but series star Hayley Atwell won’t be the only one making the trip from New York City to Los Angeles. A few familiar faces will be joining everyone’s favorite SSR agent on the west coast.
According to Entertainment Weekly, James D’Arcy and Enver Gjokaj will reprise their roles as Edwin Jarvis and Agent Daniel Sousa in Marvel Studios’ midseason ABC show, where they have been upped to series regulars. The outlet also learned that Chad Michael Murray (Agent Jack Thompson), Bridget Regan (Dottie Underwood), and Lyndsy Fonseca (Angie Martinelli) are all slated to return as well, though nothing has been announced officially yet.
However, one has to wonder how Jarvis will fit into this puzzle. Considering his work with Dominic Cooper’s Howard Stark in New York, how will he find himself navigating the noir-inspired Hollywoodland of the Marvel Cinematic Universe when he isn’t an agent of the Strategic Scientific Reserve? While speaking to EW about the upcoming season, showrunners (and brand new ‘Captain Marvel’ creative team) Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas revealed that it was a challenge that they gladly accepted:
“We have a nice organic way to infuse Jarvis. That was always the challenge. He’s not an agent. The case for the first season is over, so the biggest question for us this season was: We love Peggy and Jarvis together, that’s a really important relationship, how do we keep them together? LA has provided us a really nice, organic way to do so.”
But just because he’s there helping out Peggy doesn’t mean that Jarvis is a fan of the change in location. Fazekas reveals that the Stark family butler will definitely be out of his element:
“He hates California. He hates palm trees. He does not stop wearing a wool suit.”
While we’re most certainly looking forward to seeing poor Jarvis deal with that change, here’s a description of ‘Agent Carter’ Season Two to give us an idea of what else to expect from this corner of the MCU:
“Dedicated to the fight against new atomic age threats in the wake of World War II, Peggy must now journey from New York City to Los Angeles for her most dangerous assignment yet. But even as she discovers new friends, a new home — and perhaps even a new love — she’s about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect.”
