Since the acclaimed Netflix series was renewed for a second season back in April, we’ve been hearing rumblings about what might be coming to ‘Daredevil’ in 2016. We’ve already heard some rumblings about Elektra and Bullseye joining the action in this corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it was confirmed that Jon Bernthal would be playing Frank Castle AKA The Punisher in the next chapter of the Man Without Fear’s story. Now, a returning cast member comments on that new addition, while talking a bit about her own fan favorite character.

While attending E3 this week to promote ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops III’, Rosario Dawson spoke to MTV News about her role as Claire Temple in ‘Daredevil’. First, when asked why her character resonated with True Believers, she spoke about Claire’s relatable and rather heroic qualities:

“She’s funny, she’s wry, she’s strong — she’s built for that world, because she’s great under pressure. She’s someone — hero or not — you’d want to have in a dire situation… I really just liked her arc all the way through.”

Then, when talking about Claire’s future, Dawson mentioned that while she doesn’t know yet whether she’ll be appearing in other Marvel/Netflix shows like ‘Jessica Jones’ or ‘Luke Cage’, she’s still excited about the opportunities that could present themselves in the future to the Night Nurse:

“I’m looking forward to seeing where that goes, because her eyes have been opened up to this other world — and she’s crossed the line. You know, this is someone who helps people, and she’s been violent now but seeing the need for it. I think there’s a lot that she’s having to grapple with, and I think that’s what’s exciting about using this show to explore street-level characters: it makes it that much more closer to us.”

Finally, Dawson expressed her excitement over the inclusion of the Punisher on the show since he and Daredevil share some similar characteristics:

“That’s going to raise the stakes so much more, because Matt Murdock almost behaves like the Punisher in the first season. [Matt Murdock] crosses the line quite often, so it’s going to be really interesting to see how they differentiate them and where that goes.”

Though Daredevil was pretty brutal during season one, if that’s crossing the line, then I can’t wait to see what the new showrunners have in store for the Punisher. I’m anticipating way more guns and explosives and torture. I don’t know if Dawson had this in mind when she said this, but I’m almost expecting ‘Game of Thrones’ level of crazy violence, except with more high tech weaponry.

However, we shouldn’t get too ahead of ourselves. For now, what did you think of Rosario Dawson’s comments on ‘Daredevil’ season two? What are you most excited for when the series returns to the popular streaming service next year? Let us know in the comments.
