Evans, Hemsworth and Pratt may have their own super hero movies to headline over at Marvel, but there’s one blond, chiseled, blue-eyed Chris that Thanos isn’t getting his bejeweled glove on, all-American golden boy Chris Pine.  The new school Captain Kirk is in negotiations with Warner Brothers to make his mark on their burgeoning DC cinematic universe in… ‘Wonder Woman.’

Pine is reportedly in talks to play Steve Trevor, the love interest of Gal Gadot‘s Wonder Woman.  In the comics, Trevor is a US fighter pilot who crash lands on the hidden Paradise Island.  Princess Diana of the Amazons who dwell on the island, accompanies Trevor back to “Patriarch’s World” where she uses her gods-given powers to fight the forces of evil.

Pine’s potential casting quashes previous rumors that Scott Eastwood was playing the role.  Eastwood has been cast in a mystery role in ‘Suicide Squad’, which many guessed would turn out to be Trevor, opening the door to ‘Wonder Woman.’  (Trevor does have a connection to Task Force X in the New 52 comics.)  Steve Trevor was previously played by Lyle Waggoner on the 1970s TV series adaptation.

Unlike the intrepid Lois Lane in ‘Superman’ comics, Trevor was portrayed as something of a dimwit, constantly finding himself in peril, having to be rescued by Wonder Woman, whom he called “Angel” and *ahem* pined over, never realizing that his bespectacled new co-worker, imaginatively-named Diana Prince, was the Amazon princess in disguise.

Pine has recently been seen in ‘Horrible Bosses 2’ and ‘Into The Woods,’  He is expected to reprise the role of James T. Kirk in ‘Star Trek 3‘, a project which unfortunately has been plagued with setbacks since mastermind J.J. Abrams stepped away to take on Disney’s ‘Star Wars’ brand.

You can check out Trevor in “action” so to speak in this fun clip from ‘Batman: The Brave and the Bold’:

What do you think?  Will Pine make a good Steve Trevor?
